Renesas Discontinues LONWorks Products: Last Time Buy (LTB) Opportunity

Dear LON Partners of Gesytec,

As you may already be aware, Renesas has officially announced the discontinuation of all components related to its LonWorks technology. The Last Time Buy (LTB) deadline has been set for 15.09.2025, with the final delivery date no later than 15.03.2026.

While some major LON stakeholders are still engaged in discussions with Renesas, we believe these efforts may, at best, delay the process but will not reverse the decision. We initially postponed further steps in anticipation of positive outcomes, but no tangible results have emerged to date.

Our EasyLon product line, which has been successfully deployed for nearly 30 years, is built upon this technology and is therefore also impacted. Accordingly, Gesytec must take action in response to this discontinuation.

However, Gesytec developed its own fully compatible LON technology nearly 20 years ago, which serves as the foundation for the majority of our product portfolio. As a result, only a small subset of products—and partners—are affected. Products based on our in-house platform are designated with a “V” in the product name.

Our approach moving forward:

We hereby announce a Last Time Buy for all products that do not incorporate Gesytec’s proprietary LON technology and instead rely on original Neuron chips from Renesas.
The LTB deadline is

30.07.2025.

Final delivery dates will depend on individual orders, contractual arrangements, and available production capacity.

This applies in particular to the following standard products:

  • LPS (Easylon Serial Socket Interface)

  • LPM (Easylon USB Socket Interface)

  • ELA (Easylon Serial Socket Interface, extended temperature range)

Custom-specific solutions are not included in this list.

For partners using Neuron-based products, we offer transition options to our proprietary LON platform, where feasible:

  • If a functionally equivalent Gesytec-V product exists (e.g. the LVM as a direct replacement for the LPM)

  • If an alternative Gesytec-V solution with similar functionality in a different form factor is available

  • If the product is customer-specific, we can evaluate a redesign based on V-technology

We also support LON users who have previously sourced original LON components from Renesas, EnOcean, or other vendors by offering suitable alternatives based on our in-house technology, where compatible with functional requirements.

Please note: there will be no V-based replacements for the LPS and ELA, as these are not economically justifiable.

Legacy assemblies that were officially discontinued but occasionally produced on request—typically based on Neuron technology—are now also covered under this LTB policy.

Several of our partners have already reached out to us regarding this matter and have been informed based on the current situation.
We remain available to support all LON users—whether current Gesytec partners or not—with technical and commercial guidance.

That said, our decisions will be informed by how the LON ecosystem evolves in the coming months. We expect many stakeholders to reassess their long-term strategies, and Renesas’ announcement is likely to significantly influence the future viability of LON technology.

For this reason, Gesytec will not engage in speculative procurement of Renesas-based components or in the production of LON products—whether based on Neuron or Gesytec technology—without firm purchase commitments.

Whether you are a global integrator, a long-standing partner, or a client with custom-engineered solutions, we encourage you to contact us as soon as possible.

We will reach out shortly to all partners with custom-specific products.

Sincerely,
Gesytec GmbH
