Enhanced efficiency with GipsySync

Centrally capturing operation, consumption and environmental data from distributed building automation devices is an important step towards their optimization. Capturing and comparing evaluations of different devices is an important instrument to enhance efficiency and thereby save costs. A precondition of this is the easy availability of data from the different plants.. The Gipsy boxes from Gesytec take care of the collection and transfer of such data. Reliable and consistent integration into the DV is provided by GipsySync. All data such as data from electric, water or gas meters, data on heat consumption, temperature profiles of individual rooms, notifications about device status and additional environmental and operational data is first accumulated locally. Initially it is collected and saved locally, for example, in the stations of the Gipsy family.

Data collection…

GipsySync makes contact with the de-central Gipsy stations in the different properties and plants, receives their data and feeds this into the operator’s central database. To achieve this the Microsoft Windows based software GipsySync is simply installed on the central SQL data server or a PC connected to it. Contact with the different stations is runs via Ethernet, ISDN, DSL or an analog modem. The communication protocol used is TCP/IP. During data supply GipsySync ensures that all information is complete and without errors and is saved in the central data base.

…and optimizing devices

What happens next can be executed using common statistics and analysis tools. If the central data base does not only contain consumption data but the associated operation situation, there is nothing standing in the way of a comprehensive analysis of the individual devices.

By observing the whole data history in correlation with comparable devices and the operation situation it can be shown, with this information when and how much energy is consumed in which property, where there are problems, what can be optimized and if optimizations were successful.

It is also easy to directly compare individual devices of different properties. This benchmarking makes waste apparent and shows where action is needed.

For example if there are significant differences when comparing energy consumption for lighting in two similar sales branches over a certain amount of time, this can be evidence the control is not optimal or light installation is wrong in the branch with higher energy consumption.

With GipsySync one can directly access and optimize individual devices from a central position. New parameters and specifications can be uploaded into the existing decentralized Gipsy stations. As embedded PCs they are able to take over circuitry and control tasks. This way it is, for example, possible to set up new, optimized timer programs.

GipsySync is a tool to get the optimum out of existing devices. The possibility to collect and evaluate comprehensive device data from individual properties and carry out optimizations leads to savings in energy and resources, and as a result costs.
