Gesytec at light+building 2008 – Easylon and M-Bus LON Gateway

Aachen, 22nd Februar 2008 – Gesytec: product developer, manufacturer and service provider of automation with LON and embedded PCs will be presenting their Easylon® product line on the LonWorks community stand (Hall 9.1, E10) at light+building 2008.  The Gipsy M-Bus LON Gateway which connects M-Bus with LON networks will also be introduced. Gesytec is the European LON pioneer with years of experience in developing LON components for decentralized intelligent automation.

Easylon is appliance tools and connectivity solutions that can be used for easy installation and intelligent operation of LON networks. The Easylon product spectrum runs from interfaces, through I/O modules to software and infrastructure components for problem-free network operation. A particular focus is placed on the LON interfaces. Gesytec offers the widest choice for all types of systems from DOS to IP.

The Gipsy M-Bus LON Gateway from Gesytec connects M-Bus and LON networks and makes the data from both networks available for OPC compatible clients. The parameterization of the equipment then takes place quite simply on a PC.

The Gateway gathers the data from the M-Bus application over an interface converter on a serial connection and for LON there is a FTT-interface. The Gateway is itself also a node in the LON network; the collected date is therefore usable by other nodes.

The data from both networks is collected in a SQL database which is accessible from an integrated OPC server. The SQL commands can also directly be accessed from the SQL database.

Access to the Gipsy M-Bus LON Gateway takes place over Ethernet, ISDN or an analog modem. There is also the option to archive the data locally and transfer it per FTP or e-mail to a superior system.

The parameterization of the Gipsy M-Bus LON Gateway is thankfully simple: the configurations program on the PC that belongs to the matching M-Bus appliances are chosen from a predefined list of appliance types and given a respective appliance address – the program carries out the rest. Every appliance corresponds to an object and is already displayed and defined on a LON page. Then the completed parameterization needs only be transferred to the Gateway.
